Plaque mineralises into tartar in about 48 hours, so frequency beats thoroughness. The outer surfaces are where it accumulates; the tongue handles most of the inner ones.
Kibble does not clean teeth. It fractures rather than scrapes, and the idea is comprehensively oversold. Dental-specific kibble with a larger, fibrous texture is a different product and does help.
